17-year-old Liverpool centre-back Billy Koumetio will leave the club on loan this summer, after agreeing a deal with Austrian Bundesliga side FK Austria Wien for the 2022/23 season.

Koumetio is highly regarded by Jurgen Klopp and is seen to have a genuine future at the Merseyside club in the coming years, so a loan season in the competitive Austrian top flight will only benefit his career further.

The Frenchman made an appearance off the bench in the Uefa Champions League last season, however, spent the majority of the season with the Under-23s squad.

Koumetio now has the chance to cement himself into a starting XI; a perfect opportunity for a footballer of his age and apparent talent.

The defender will also have the chance to catapult his new side into Europe, with the Austrian team gaining a place in this year’s Europa League play-offs.

The youngster joins a host of Liverpool starlets reported to leave the club on loan this summer; with Sepp van den Berg, Leighton Clarkson, Jake Cain, Owen Beck and Paul Glatzel all rumoured to be leaving Merseyside.
