Despite some positives to take from the game, Liverpool slipped to another lacklustre performance last night in their 0-0 draw with rivals Manchester United.
The result has left the Reds sat in fourth place in the Premier League with United still top and ahead of second and third place by two points – which will no doubt have left Jurgen Klopp and the squad frustrated after they had a chance to retain their place at the top spot.
Liverpool correspondent for The Athletic, James Pearce, offered his thoughts on the game after the final whistle and shared the frustration, describing the performance as ‘concerning’ after the squad failed to score a goal for the third Premier League game in a row…

It is hard to disagree with Pearce on his evaluation given the performance that we all witnesses – it lacked firepower and intent up top with our front three continuing to look way off the mark.

Despite the poor performance the club did manage to keep their unbeaten record at Anfield intact thanks to Alisson and as Pearce says, the team will be indebted to the Brazilian for pulling off two magnificent saves from point-blank range from Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba to keep United at bay and Liverpool in the game.
Sadly due to that lack of intent upfront and the Reds attack failing to convert their chances, the game stayed at 0-0 and resulted in another 2 dropped points with Klopp and his team slowly slipping down the table.
The team started the game so well and piled on the pressure against the Red Devils who at times even gave the Reds chances galore with them losing possession at the back on multiple occasions but we still managed to fire another blank.
