Another day and another attempt at making headlines with ridiculous statements from TalkSPORT’s presenters, this time with an absolute cracker from Adrian Durham, who has weighed in his thoughts on Liverpool’s new boy Thiago and the impact he has had on the Reds squad.
I truly believe that statements such as this are just said to create a reaction and that the people saying them, for this instance Durham, don’t actually believe a word they are saying as I find it very hard to comprehend that someone would actually think this – on yesterday’s TalkSPORT show, Durham stated that he isn’t convinced by Thiago’s impact on the Liverpool squad and that he actually slows the game down for Jurgen Klopp’s side…
“He slows it down! They’ve gone from heavy metal to lift music, with Thiago.”
“Terrific career, talented football player, but he is totally wrong for Liverpool!” ❌

Liverpool and Klopp’s recruitment over the past four years has been nothing short of exceptional – individuals, such as Virgil van Dijk, Alisson, Fabinho, Mo Salah, Sadio Mané, Georginio Wijnaldum, Diogo Jota, Andy Robertson, Joel Matip, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and now Thiago have all been brought to the club by Klopp and Michael Edwards in recent seasons and in Trent’s case promoted to the first team from the academy.

Now, because of this, I’m pretty sure the board and staff knew exactly the type of player they were bringing to Merseyside in the Spaniard and that he would be a perfect fit – Klopp is not the sort of manager just to bring a big-name player to the club for the sake of it or on their individual performance, it is whether they will fit into the side and make an impact.
Durham may think that Thiago isn’t the right fit for the club or the squad but he is far from being right. it was evident against Manchester United that Thiago is becoming one of the pacesetters in this Liverpool side and his attacking and defensive intelligence in midfield actually sped up the Reds’ attacking play compared to what we have seen as of late.
