The summer transfer window is just months away and Liverpool will reportedly make themselves active in the market with their pursuit of at least one new attacker to join the club as well as some likely defensive options too.

With that also comes the possibility of players leaving the club to make room for the new arrivals in regards to transfer fees and player wages, with the likes of Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri, Marko Grujic, and Harry Wilson all linked with moves away from the club in the summer.

However, one of the club’s first-choice forwards has recently been linked with a move away from the club, with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid reportedly interested in securing the signature of £49.5million-rated Roberto Firmino, as cited by AnfieldWatch on Twitter…

El Gol Digital, via TeamTalk, reported that Atletico will look to trying to sign Firmino in the summer to add to their attacking options after Diego Costa agreed with the La Liga club to terminate his contract early and from the looks of thing’s, Simeone is looking to Anfield to fill the void.

Firmino has been at the club for more than five years now and has helped the Reds to Champions League and Premier League glory along the way, and has become a fan favourite for his antics and Brazilian flair that he brings on the pitch more often than not.

Does Firmino deserve more respect from fans?

It would be a massive shame to see him leave the club after his time here has left such fond memories for the Liverpool faithful but it has to be said that his goalscoring numbers are nowhere near that of fellow forwards Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah and through no fault of his own, with him often operating as the provider for the pair.

What do you think Liverpool fans, will you be sad to see Firmino leave? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
