The rumour mill has thrown up some interesting claims so far this summer and it’s been one of the most interesting transfer windows world football has ever seen.

Barcelona has been at the forefront of the transfer dealings and they are now being touted with the almost impossible task of luring away Liverpool’s generational talent Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Catalan giants reportedly want to make the 23-year-old defender a marquee signing in 2023 and whilst this is highly unlikely to happen, the Spanish team may still attempt to do so.

According to Futbol Total via the Liverpool Echo, Barcelona are targetting the Liverpool gem next summer to complete their squad and see Alexander-Arnold as the final piece of the puzzle.

Alexander-Arnold has won everything possible with Liverpool and at the age of 23, will be considered one of the club’s greatest ever players.

The report suggests Barca will table an €80M (£67M) bid; a laughable fee when you consider Harry Maguire moved to Manchester United for the same amount.

Barcelona can attempt all they want, but the academy graduate will undoubtedly be staying put at Anfield, even more so with Jurgen Klopp committing his future to the Merseyside club.

The 23-year-old is under contract with the Reds until 2025 and will likely sign an extension when the time comes to do so.
