Brazil legend Cafu names surprising Liverpool v Real Madrid combined XI

Brazil legend has surpised many whilst chosing his Liverpool and Real Madrid combined XI, with some unexpected names throughout.

We will break down each decision made by the iconic full-back, but firstly, here is his combined XI in full:

Courtois, Alexander-Arnold, Militao, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Henderson, Thiago, Salah, Benzema, Vinicius Jr.

Goalkeeper:

The Brazilian opted to go for former Chelsea goalkeeper, Courtois, ahead of Liverpool’s Alisson, which in fairness is a tight call to make.

I would personally go with Alisson, purely based on the huge amount of points he has single-handedly won Liverpool over the past five years.

Defence:

I think the defence is pretty spot on with neither of the Real Madrid full-backs getting close to Alexander-Arnold or Robertson on their day.

Eder Militao and Virgil Van Dijk would be my partnership at the heart of the defence as well, with Joel Matip and Ibou Konate not playing as well as they usually do at the minute.

David Alaba isn’t the same player he once was at Bayern Munich.

Midfield:

Now, this is the point of the discussion where Cafu has got to be joking.

Jordan Henderson and Fabinho were both picked ahead of the likes of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Federico Valverde despite their awful form this season.

My midfield would’ve personally been Modric, Kroos and Thiago- good luck getting the ball from that midfield trio.

Forwards-

Cafu opted for Mohamed Salah, Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr as a front three, which is hard to argue against.

As good as Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota have been in a Liverpool shirt, Vinicuis Jr seems to be hitting the potential we all know he’s capable of.
