Alisson Becker has missed the majority of Liverpool’s preseason fixtures, since sustaining an injury during the match against Manchester United in Thailand.

Nevertheless, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has provided good news regarding Alisson’s injury and expects the goalkeeper to be back very soon.

The Reds face Red Bull Salzburg tonight as part of their preparation for this weekend’s Community Sheild matchup against Premier League rivals Manchester City.

Speaking to Liverpool’s official club website, Klopp gave us an update on Alisson’s injury situation and when he expects the goalkeeper to be back in action.

“Obviously Diogo [Jota] is not here, that’s clear, but from the boys who are injured but are here, Ali is the closest – definitely not for Salzburg but then we will see. He is close to get back I think.”

“Between now and five o’clock, it’s now 2pm and between now and 5pm I will wait for messages and see who can train this afternoon properly. Then the game tomorrow, we will see.”

Klopp went on to reiterate the importance of pre-season fixtures, from a tactical and fitness viewpoint.

“But how all pre-season games are, they are important for us from a physical point of view, from a tactical point of view, from a growing point of view into ourselves again. Let’s see.”
