Liverpool fans have had to endure some rather crazy takes on the club’s new boy Thiago over the past few days, with pundits such as Adrian Durham and former Reds midfielder Didi Hamann saying that the Spaniard doesn’t fit the club’s style of play and is too slow for the Liverpool midfield.

Finally, however, someone with an understanding of the game and the way Liverpool play has risen from the ashes and spoken the truth about how well Thiago has fitted into the side considering the lack of game time and the instant impact he has had fitting into the side well – and that is former Premier League striker Darren Bent on TalkSPORT yesterday…

“He’s perfect for what they do” is the way Bent rounds off his evaluation of Thiago and I couldn’t agree more. He is right about how the midfielder has slotted in and can unlock a better side of Roberto Firmino that seems to have been lost over the past few months.

Is Thiago our best midfielder?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Thiago was our best player against Manchester United on Sunday and drove the Reds’ attack from midfield with power and precision – it was just a shame that the forward’s couldn’t convert the chances created for them but I think it is more to do with the absences in defence due to two of our best midfielders in Jordan Henderson and Fabinho having to play at centre-back alongside one another.

Bent speaks sense in his thoughts about Thiago, he is a direct route from defence to attack for Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah as he says and this can become a really great asset for Liverpool down the line – with him releasing some pressure off of Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold who have been the team’s ole reliability in terms of chances and creativity from full-back over the past few years.

What do you think Liverpool fans, do you agree with Darren Bent? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
