Last night, if results had of gone their way, Liverpool could have returned from Paris safe in the knowledge they had reached the last sixteen of the 2018 / 2019 Champions League.
But, sadly, that wasn’t the case!
Liverpool slumped to a 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain whilst Napoli romped home against Red Star Belgrade.
The results leave everything in the melting pot as far as Liverpool are concerned.
If Liverpool are to advance to the last sixteen of the competition then, in the last group fixture, they need to beat Napoli by two clear goals.
It is not an impossible task but definitely a hard one.
But, with another of those famous Anfield nights looming large on the horizon, would you bet against Liverpool reaching the knockout stages?
I certainly wouldn’t.
The main danger, as I see it, is if Napoli score, Italian sides are notorious for their defensive prowess and to score three, especially if Napoli score first, could be too much to hope for.
But, with Liverpool’s attacking prowess, it’s guaranteed that chances will be created.
It promises to be an exciting, entertaining and thrilling night.
