Even though Liverpool are top of the Premier League, a place we all hope we can hang on to until the end of the season, not everybody is happy.

Footballers can be a strange breed and they’re not a happy lot if they’re not in the first-team and are restricted to cameo roles or a place on the bench.

That appears to be the case when it comes to our Spanish left-back Alberto Moreno.

The 26-year-old Spaniard, who hasn’t featured on a regular basis this season as Liverpool mount a serious Premier League challenge, is looking to leave the club.

According to the Spanish news source, Estadiodeportivo, Moreno has no intentions of putting pen-to-paper on a new contract and has told the clubs hierarchy he has a desire to return to Spain to continue his career in La Liga.

Although we’re naturally disappointed to hear that Moreno wants to leave, we do understand his reasoning.

Here at Vital Liverpool, we’ll continue to monitor proceedings and report back as deemed necessary.
