Since first joining the club back in 2014 after an impressive World Cup tournament for Belgium in Brazil – Divock Origi has failed to fully live up to what was first expected of him.

Joining for just over £11 million from LOSC Lille, the striker has since gone on to play 143 games in all competitions, scoring 35 goals with 13 assists.

Origi has shown himself to be an important player for the club in some big games, with him scoring the club’s first and fourth goals in their 4-0 victory over Barcelona to help get the Reds to the 2019 Champions League final, as well as scoring the second and final goal in that final in our 2-0 victory over Tottenham.

I think that now would be a great time to give Origi a lifeline in his Liverpool career that he deserves – the striker has often been a rotation player for Jurgen Klopp and has failed to really nail down a position in the starting XI – but with the current injures and absences in the first-team at the moment, now is the perfect time for Origi to prove himself to Klopp.

Should Liverpool keep Origi?

Despite the current form of Diogo Jota – Liverpool will still need plenty of their players at their disposal to get through this busy period of games before the New Year and Origi can be one of the players to help us through.

He has proven himself to show up on the big stage and there is no doubt about the quality that he possesses, I just hope that if given the opportunity he will be able to give his Liverpool career a lifeline after being linked with a move away for some time now – with a loan spell at Wolfsburg during the 2017/18 season proving moderately successful with 7 goals and 3 assists from playing right-midfield for the German club.

Whatever the case, this current situation the Reds find themselves in should be grasped with both hands by the Belgium striker to prove himself to Klopp and the Liverpool faithful.
