Liverpool duo Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota have both been ruled out of the FA Community Shield match against Manchester City which will take place on Saturday evening.
Liverpool’s no.1 has returned to training ahead of the new season, however, the Community Shield match-up has come too soon for him to make an appearance.
Diogo Jota’s return date is yet to be confirmed, with fans of the Reds worrying it could be a while until they see the Portuguese international back in action.
Speaking to Liverpool’s official club website, Jurgen Klopp confirmed the duo won’t be making an appearance in Saturday’s game.

“No, Alisson and Diogo have no [chance]. Ali trained today more than the day before so he will be definitely available for Fulham, but not for the weekend,” Klopp announced on Thursday.
It’s a shame that the duo won’t be featuring for Liverpool on Saturday and gives Manchester City a slight advantage heading into the fixture.
“And the same for Diogo. Diogo was not here with us so how could he play a football game? That will take a while unfortunately. That’s it.”
