Cologne have confirmed that their move for Liverpool goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek has been blocked.

The Bundesliga team wanted to take the shot stopper on loan, but claim that Liverpool wanted a fee.

The 32-year-old has made his feelings clear, he wants regular first team football in order to boost his hopes of going to the World Cup. However reports suggest that Rafa wants a fee of around £3million for the player and doesn’t want to send him on loan at all.

Cologne sporting director Michael Meier told the Liverpool Echo as saying:

‘It’s no secret that we have asked the club for Dudek. Even though he is number two at Liverpool, Liverpool won’t give him away because of the Champions League and a loan deal does not interest them.’
