Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has had his say on who he thinks Liverpool should sign next and believes the 23-year-old midfielder would be a perfect addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Romano believes Liverpool should be in the transfer market for a midfielder, a position that the Liverpool hierarchy has highlighted as a place for improvement.

In his column for Caught Offside, Romano suggests Sportings Lisbon’s  Matheus Nunes as the perfect candidate to fill this void for the Reds.

“It’s gone quiet at Liverpool, as many expected, but if it were up to me I think I’d still be in the market for at least one more signing.” He wrote.

“Personally, I’d sign a new central midfielder. Jurgen Klopp wanted Aurelien Tchouameni when he was at Monaco and held some talks over the deal, but the player preferred Real Madrid.”

“I think another midfielder could help Liverpool, a player like Matheus Nunes, a talented 23-year-old from Sporting Lisbon, would be a smart idea. But Liverpool always think long-term and I’m sure they will invest in a midfielder in 2023.”

With Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s latest injury it makes sense that Liverpool may make a move for a talented young midfielder before the end of the window.
