Liverpool supporters have been screaming for the club to make a move for a midfielder before the transfer window shuts in September.
Now, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Liverpool’s chances of signing long-term target, Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella.
Speaking during his Daily Briefing with Caught Offside, Romano suggested that Jurgen Klopp has certainly had an interest in the midfielder for numerous years.
Despite this, Liverpool have never made a concrete offer for his services, nor have they started talks with Inter Milan over the possibility of him making a switch.

“There’s been talk of long-term interest from Liverpool in Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella, but unfortunately it doesn’t go much further than that, Reds fans.” Said the journalist.
“So far, there are no proposals or negotiations between Liverpool and Inter Milan. Barella extended his contract with Inter a few months ago and the club sees him as the captain of the future.”
This will come as a slight kick in the teeth to Liverpool fans, who consider Barella as the ideal alternative to Jude Bellingham should the club miss out on signing the 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund star.
“I think it’s a more than difficult deal for this summer so we’ll see what happens in the future; for now Barella is only focused on Inter Milan.”
This looks like Liverpool are out of the race for the Italy international, for now at least, nevertheless, stranger things have happened in the transfer window.
