Despite us currently being in the middle of the January transfer window, Liverpool are reportedly planning for this summer already and are ‘planning something interesting’ ahead of next season according to reliable football journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian stated during the Que Golazo podcast, via AnfieldWatch on Twitter, that the club won’t be spending a lot of money during the winter window due to the plans for the summer, meaning we could see some huge business coming our way in the summer months of this year…

The Reds have been reported with an abundance of talent across Europe ahead of this January transfer window, mainly due to the injuries sustained in defence so far this season with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip all currently sidelined through injury.

It was reported a few weeks back that the Reds felt they would scrap their initial plans of having a quiet winter window and go out to sign a defender in January by Sunway World reporter Kevin Palmer – however, recent quotes from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp stated otherwise, with the German saying that he is unsure whether the Reds will conduct any business this month.

The club has relied heavily on central defensive midfielder Fabinho playing out of position in defence alongside initially Joel Matip prior to his recent injury, with youngsters such as Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips filling in alongside them here and there.

Credit to the four of them as they have done a great job filling in under the circumstances and pressure of the games we have played so far this campaign but I definitely think it would be wise to make early contact for a defender this month to ensure the Premier League title isn’t lost at the end of the season.
