Fabrizio Romano has revealed a shock player Liverpool had on their transfer list last week and it’s not a name that was being linked with the club.

The transfer guru revealed on his YouTube channel that the Reds were looking at Thiago Alcantara’s brother, Rafinha Alcantara from PSG.

Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool’s hierarchy ended up opting to sign Arthur Melo from Juventus, however, Romano revealed the club were close to landing Rafinha instead.

Romano shared all the details behind the rumours that Rafinha was desperate to join the Merseyside club.

“Liverpool signed Arthur Melo on a loan deal in the last hours of the window, but Liverpool explored many possibilities.”

The transfer specialist went on to state how Rafinha was one of the names on Jurgen Klopp’s list.

“I can tell you that one of the names on the list was Rafinha from PSG, but he joined Al-Arabi the Qatari club, so he decided to go for a different experience. He was one of the players on the list at Liverpool and he was dreaming of the possibility to play with his brother Thiago Alcantara.”

It would have been very cool to see the Alcantara brothers share the Anfield pitch together, nevertheless, it seems Rafinha opted for a different experience this time around.

However, Liverpool fans may get the chance to see their new midfield signing Arthur Melo in the UEFA Champions League this week, with the Brazilian included in the squad to face Napoli.
