This summer may see Liverpool tasked with the chore of finding a replacement for Dutch midfield maestro Georginio Wijnaludm after the 30-year-old failed to agree on a new deal with the club last month ahead of his contract running out in the summer.

Due to this, Spanish giants FC Barcelona has been heavily linked with a move for the Dutchman after himself and manager Ronald Koeman built up a good relationship during his time with the National Team – leading to the Catalan club being confident of securing his services on a free transfer this summer.

With Wijnaldum all but certain to depart Anfield in the summer, this leaves the club with having to select a worthy replacement for the midfielder, and plenty of names have been mentioned with the likes of Yves Bissouma from Brighton, Youri Tielemans from Leicester City, Renato Sanches from LOSC Lille, and Denis Zakaria from Borussia Monchengladbach – but the latest name actually comes from Zakaria’s fellow teammate Florian Neuhaus.

ESPN confirmed the Reds’ interest in the 23-year-old German midfielder this morning with the £34 million rated player also being targeted by Borussia Dortmund ahead of the summer window.

That won’t be the only competition that Liverpool faces either, with Manchester City, Juventus, and Bayern Munich also tracking the midfielder’s progress so far this season.

Neuhaus is a fantastic box-to-box midfielder and could be a great replacement for Wijnaldum in the No.8 role and his signing would leave some fantastic options in midfield for the Reds next season with Fabinho and Jordan Henderson soon to be able to return to the midfield three at the end of this season when Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip return form injury.

What do you think Liverpool fans, would Florian Neuhaus be a good signing? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
