Michael Edwards has been the talk of the town in recent seasons after his astonishing work for the Reds that has seen the club negotiate savvy deals for players in the transfer window.
Liverpool’s former Sporting Director isn’t short of options for a new role after leaving Merseyside this summer, with Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea all eyeing up the transfer guru.
Nevertheless, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, despite receiving a concrete offer from Chelsea, Edwards told the London club of his intention to take some time out away from football.
The news will come as little shock to fans of the club, who knew this was the reason for Edward’s leaving Liverpool this season anyway.
Chelsea did everything in their power to try and get Michael Edwards. Not just a case of being told he wanted a break. Multiple meetings took place. Edwards very impressed by the project and even made an incredible job offer. Timing not right but #CFC threw everything at him.

Chelsea’s new consortium under Todd Boehly reportedly threw everything they could at Edwards to secure his services, although, it’s thought the timing was too soon for the former Liverpool man.
Fortunately, we won’t be seeing Chelsea profit from Edward’s backroom prowess any time soon, however, it’s a shame to lose such a vital component of the club.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Edwards at another Premier League club in the future, his proven track record in the league under Liverpool makes him far too precious of an asset to be without a role.
