According to an official update from the BBC, the Africa Cup of Nations competition has been pushed back to 2022 due to recent events, prompting plenty of Liverpool fans to buzz over the ‘best news of the day‘ given this could gift the Reds a Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane boost for next season’s title defence.
Indeed, before the competition’s postponement, Liverpool looked set to miss Mane and Salah’s influence for a short period next season – with Afcon originally meant to commence in January 2021.
Around one of the debatably toughest periods of the season, especially during our first ever Premier League title defence, improvising without two of our three star forward line could have been a mountainous task.
However, with Afcon’s postponement till 2022, it appears Reds supporters no longer have to show concern – with many of them celebrating the announcement on social media.
