According to a report from Evening Standard correspondent David Lynch, Jurgen Klopp will opt against signing a new right-back as back up to Trent Alexander-Arnold when the transfer window opens – prompting many Liverpool fans to become divided over the latest update.
Indeed, as per this news, due to the manager’s perceived faith in youngster Neco Williams, the Reds apparently won’t be investing in a new full-back – with fellow academy men Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliot also tipped to play big roles next campaign.
The 19-year-old defender is yet to make a Premier League appearance for us but has started five matches overall this season for the first team – starting four FA Cup ties and one Carabao Cup encounter according to WhoScored.
Williams has also featured regularly in the Premier League 2 division for the Reds’ Under-23s over 2019/2020, racking up two assists from out wide and allegedly impressing Klopp enough to become Alexander-Arnold’s main defensive back-up.
However, some Liverpool fans are divided over this update, giving their diverse range of opinions on social media over Klopp’s alleged stance.

No but we do expect to see atleast 1 first team transfer in 3 years. Is that too much to ask for?

Agree with this. But a left back is an absolute necessity.

So long as we sign Timo Werner (because I think it’s both needed and is the perfect fit) then I’d happy with us using the squad we have for the next 3 seasons

RB isnt the problem, especially with Neco in the squad. LB is the main issue. We need a left footed player who can slot into it and Klopp clearly wants a versatile player who is happy to deputise in LB when needed
