After recent rumours and speculation surrounding £36 million rated Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum’s future at the club – it has recently been reported that the ‘door is still open’ for Wijanldum to make a move to Barcelona according to Mundo Deportivo (via Liverpool Echo) in Spain.

The Dutchman’s contract expires at the end of the season and from January, he can start to talk with other clubs overseas about a pre-contract agreement and talks over a free transfer – but I think the Reds would be silly to let him go.

I have previously said about how important it is for the club to tie Wijnaldum down to a new contract after his contributions to the club winning the Premier League, Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and UEFA Cup last season and the one before.

Jurgen Klopp openly admitted after the 4-0 win over Wolves that he would love Wijnaldum to stay at the club, whilst the midfielder himself has kept his cards close to his chest about his future, stating that he wants to focus on the games before making discussions about his contract and his future.

Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma recently, with the £11 million rated midfielder seen as a good replacement for 30-year-old Wijnaldum. The Malian midfielder joined the Seagulls from Lille in 2018 and has become a great Premier League player in my opinion – showing great signs in the middle of the park for Graham Potters side and I think he would be a good replacement in Wijnaldum was to leave at the end of the season.

What do you think Liverpool fans, would you like the club to keep hold of Wijnaldum? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
