Speaking to the Sunday World via Goal, former Reds striker John Aldridge has claimed that Liverpool can’t afford to stand still and allow our opponents to close the gap by not taking some form of action in the transfer market – prompting many fans to applaud the ‘spot on‘ verdict.

Aldridge, speaking to the paper, claims Jurgen Klopp’s side must invest to stay ahead of the Premier League pack – going on to recommend that we re-sign ex-playmaker Philippe Coutinho on loan to inject some more quality ahead of next season’s inevitable title defence.
