Image for Hull – Liverpool

Liverpool’s season ends with a match against relegated Hull. There’s little for us to play for but I’d like us to try and end the season with some pride, a good performance and a win. In my honest opinion I’d like Rafa to give some players a chance as well, they might show enough pride to see us end the season on a high.

Hull Team News:

Zayatte, Ashbee, Garcia and Hunt are all out with injury and Bullard and Folan are rated as doubtful. Altidore is suspended however the American has returned to Villarreal early from his loan anyway. Hull youngsters Will Atkinson and Mark Cullen are expected to play again after recent debuts.

Player to watch: Degen

Philipp Degen is most likely playing his final match for the Reds and he’ll want to go out on a high note. The Switzerland international has been unfortunate with injuries over his time on Merseyside and hasn’t always shined however he has marginally improved with time.

Liverpool Team News:

Jamie Carragher, who is looking to pass Alan Hansen’s League appearance record, and Maxi Rodriguez are doubtful and both are likely to miss out. Martin Skrtel is training again but isn’t expected to feature in this match with the World Cup coming up. Glen Johnson’s injury problems are expected to give Philipp Degen a chance and Fabio Aurelio, Emiliano Insua and Fernando Torres are all out with injury.

Player to watch: Atkinson

Will Atkinson, and Mark Cullen for that matter aren’t players that I know anything about really but the Hull youngsters both had impressive debuts by all accounts last week and both scored. If given the chance again they’ll want to impress.

Match Facts & Stats

Liverpool hammered Hull at Anfield in September. Geovanni briefly brought Hull level, after Fernando Torres’ opener, however the completion of Torres’ hat trick, a goal from Stevie Gerrard and two in the last two minutes from Ryan Babel completed a 6-1 win.

Ref Watch:

Andre Marriner will officiate.

Match Prediction:

The World Cup will be on the minds of many Reds stars, their own personal futures some others, but all should look to end the season on a high to salvage some pride from this miserable season. Hull have nothing to lose so it could make for an interesting match so my prediction would be Hull 2 Liverpool 4.
