After yesterday’s 1-0 defeat to Burnley in the Premier League, Liverpool finds themselves 6 points adrift of the top spot with them sat in fourth place on 34 points with their goal drought now extended to four games.

It was an agonising result given the magnitude and importance of getting three points against the Clarets to try and set the Reds up with a push to return to the top of the table over time and retain their Premier League title but the loss sees Jurgen Klopp’s side drifting further and further from the competition.

The Athletic’s James Pearce was quick to react on Twitter after the defeat, with him obviously highlighting the end of the club’s 68-game unbeaten run at Anfield, as well as the fact of our goal drought continuing and the lack of confidence in the side…

It genuinely was a frustrating match to watch especially given our unbeaten run had ended with us not losing a game at home since April 2017 – and it really shows the crisis that Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp are in right now as Pearce says.

Will Liverpool miss out on this season's Premier League title?

Klopp has a real issue on his hands and it isn’t in defence as many had initially thought with our options at the back very limited. Instead, the problems have been upfront with our attacking options failing to score and not making much of the chances they’re given.

I did think that maybe the win over a young Aston Villa side in the FA Cup would be a good way of getting the teams shooting boots back on but it doesn’t appear that way, with our front three of Sadio ManĂ©, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah still failing to hit the mark in games. Whatever the issue is in the Reds squad at the moment, I don’t feel it is something that Klopp will be able to fix overnight and I can see this poor form continuing for some time.
