Liverpool have been handed a huge boost ahead of tomorrow’s game against Brighton in the Premier League with the return of captain Jordan Henderson to training.

The 30-year-old had picked up an injury whilst on England duty and returned straight to the club for assessment and rehabilitation – and yesterday the club released pictures of the captain in training with the rest of the squad…

Liverpool journalist Neil Jones was evidently delighted by the news, much like myself – Henderson is an invaluable member of the squad and his return gives the club and Jurgen Klopp a big boost in both selection and confidence with the captain’s return.

Henderson’s value to the side is irreplaceable and despite not possessing some of the qualities that other midfielders have in the league, the player is a massive presence in the Liverpool side and has become a pressing machine under Klopp over the past five years.

The club’s record with and without Henderson is great to compare, with the Reds averaging a 67.4% win rate without him in the squad as well as picking up 2.13 points per game, compared to a 73.8% win rate and 2.38 points per game when Henderson is in the Liverpool squad.

We also concede fewer goals with Henderson in the squad, with 1.18 goals conceded per game without him and 0.7 goals conceded per game with him – it is clear that his value to the club when starting is so important and it will give the club a big boost in confidence ahead of the game against Brighton.

Hopefully, the midfielder will be fit enough to start tomorrow for the Reds, giving relief to many Liverpool fans including me, with his ability to pick up this Liverpool squad when down irreplaceable.
