Writing in the Independent, reliable Reds correspondent Melissa Reddy has provided an update on rumoured Liverpool target Thiago Alcantara – claiming that while the midfielder is ‘available‘, Liverpool are yet to make an official bid.

Thiago, who has started 20 Bundesliga games for the Bayern Munich this season, is currently at the centre of a transfer saga as the Spaniard reportedly ponders a move away from the Allianz Arena.

Should Liverpool sign Thiago?

Yes, get it done

No, won't happen

No, won't happen

Indeed, after allegedly denying to extend his current contract, the 29-year-old potentially believes it is last chance saloon to secure one last big money move to the Premier League – and Bayern are ‘ready to business‘ according to Reddy.

Following heavy links to Liverpool, the Reds have been touted as one of the favourites to go for Thiago, but the Independent believe that the club have ‘knocked down‘ rumours considering it goes against Fenway Sports Group’s transfer philosophy.

Michael Edwards and co would have to ignore a lot of red flags when it comes to signing Thiago, for instance his age and alleged £206,000-per-week salary demands, not to mention the potential transfer fee.

Among the ‘very best‘ passing midfielders in world football, having registered a noteworthy 90.5% success rate in the league this season as per WhoScored, it’s still unclear whether we will in fact swoop for the international.

Apparently, Bayern would have to demand far more than the £30 million tag currently being reported – which puts into question our ability to make a move considering the recent global pandemic affecting finances.

While it will be interesting to see how this saga develops, as per the Independent, any move looks unlikely at this stage.
