Jurgen Klopp has been campaigning recently over the idea of keeping hold of the 5 substitute rule that was implemented at the end of last season due to the current global climate – making a change from the usual 3 subs that we see in place for the Premier League at current.

During his press conference yesterday, he was asked again about the recent snub from the latest Premier League between the league’s CEOs on the matter, stating “that’s not a good sign”…

The Athletic and Liverpool journalist James Pearce tweeted the German’s reaction during the press conference, with Klopp evidently frustrated with the continued ignorance from the league’s CEOs over the matter.

Klopp is clearly annoyed over the situation, his calls for the change in the rule would provide better welfare and care for players especially due to the current injury crisis at the club as clear evidence as to why the change would be a positive one.

I understand his frustrations, in all honesty, Liverpool have been so unlucky this season in terms of injuries and the change in the substitute rule would provide managers the further opportunity to give a bit of relief and rest for players that have been relied heavily upon through busy periods, much like Liverpool’s as of late.

The lack of attention to the requests from not just Klopp but other managers in the league shows poor leadership from the people at the top and a lack of care for the welfare and health of the players who as of late, have been dropping like flies.
