The January transfer window is in full swing, with rumours flying and moves being made to secure some of the best midseason deals across Europe – and the Reds are as usual never far from the front pages.
Liverpool have been linked to an abundance of talent over the past few months in the build-up to the winter window with the likes of Dayot Upamecano, Sven Botman, Milan Skriniar, and Roger IbaƱez just a few examples of players linked with a move to Merseyside this month.
However, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp recently stated in an interview with Sky Sports that he is unsure on what the club may be able to achieve in the transfer market during January and that he is ‘unsure’ as to whether the fans may see any new additions to the squad over the next few weeks.
Defending champions #LFC are in the midst of an injury crisis at the back, but Jurgen Klopp says they may not sign a new centre-back in the January transfer window.

The club have been without first-choice defensive pairing Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez for much of the current season, with Dutchman van Dijk suffering from a ruptured cruciate ligament in his knee and Englishman Gomez also having knee issues, with both injuries requiring surgery and lengthy rehabilitation.
Who should Liverpool sign in January?
Perr Schuurs
David Alaba
Eder Militao
Sven Botman
This has led to defensive midfielder Fabinho to fill in at central defence alongside Joel Matip, but the Cameroonian has also suffered from injuries this season meaning youngsters such as Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips have filled in for Klopp in both the Premier League and Champions League.
I do think the club should make a defensive signing this month – it would be dangerous to rely on the lack of experience from Williams and Phillips for the remainder of the season especially given how open the league table is currently looking and the lack of form compared to last season from the Reds.
