Jurgen Klopp is planning a vast clear-out of the myriad of duds at Liverpool, with Ben Woodburn and Taiwo Awoniyi among those expected to leave Anfield, according to Goal.

Liverpool are aiming to offload a string of our fringe players ahead of the start of the new season, with Klopp keen to trim the excess off the squad list in either permanent or loan moves.

The Reds have received ‘serious interest’ from Nottingham Forest over the potential availability of Nat Phillips and Sheyi Ojo, with Sabri Lamouchi’s side now on the hunt for those who can push the City Ground natives into the promotion race after missing out on a Play-Off spot last term.

Interest remains from elsewhere in the potential availability of Phillips following his exploits on loan with VfB Stuttgart, while Ipswich Town and Portsmouth are understood to be keen on signing Woodburn this summer.

Woodburn, an international with Wales on 10 occasions, has struggled to break into the Liverpool first-team with just 11 outings to his name and endured a challenging 2019/20 campaign whilst away on loan, with a fractured foot almost ending his season in October after 13 appearances before returning to feature in Oxford United’s League One Play-Off efforts.

Nigerian striker Awoniyi also has his suitors with Stuttgart and FSV Mainz 05 interested in any potential deal, while Hamburg are among those sounding out Poland U21 goalkeeper Kamil Grabara.

Is Klopp making a mistake clearing out so many players?

The future of Rhian Brewster is currently unclear as Liverpool chiefs are willing to wait on whether or not to send the striker back out on loan, having impressed first-team staff in pre-season, with at least six Premier League sides currently said to be in the race for his signature.

Harry Wilson also faces a waiting game over his role this season after another loan move was ruled out following his return from AFC Bournemouth, but hopes that we could earn around £20million for his services may need revising.

Hertha Berlin target Marko Grujic is another Goal believe we had hoped to sell for around £20m, but have yet been able to agree on a price with the Bundesliga side the Serbian midfielder has spent the last two seasons on loan with.

Loris Karius and Yasser Larouci’s involvement in Klopp’s plans this season seem certain with the pair both expected to be sold before October’s deadline, with the Reds hierarchy eager to offload the shot-stopper who cost us the 2018 Champions League against Real Madrid.
