It’s an area where Liverpool need to invest, yet it seems there may already be some outgoings in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield as the summer transfer window is set to begin.

According to reports from French news outlet Foot Mercato via The Mirror, Paris Saint-Germain have highlighted Naby Keita as a potential target and are preparing a £42 million bid.

The Guinean divides opinion amongst most Liverpool fans, with some believing that he will become the player he was touted to be after his move from RB Leipzig, others suggesting his time is well and truly up with his bleak injury record.

Nevertheless, a £42 million sum for a player who hasn’t fully cemented himself in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI is a mouthwatering prospect.

Keita only has one year left on his current Liverpool contract, adding fuel to the fire that a sizeable bid this summer could tempt Liverpool into selling the midfielder.

Despite Keita having arguably his best season on Merseyside, the reinvestments Jurgen Klopp and FSG could make with the sale of Keita ring far too true.

Barcelona’s Gavi or Frenkie De Jong could be brought in to replace the 27-year-old or even a savvy switch for the unsettled Chelsea star N’Golo Kante.

The fact of the matter is that Keita has failed to live up to the high expectations fans gave him when he arrived at Anfield and a fresh new talent to replace him may be the best option for both parties moving forward.

Some will be sad to see Keita go, however, if the price PSG are said to be bidding for the midfielder ring true, Liverpool would be mindless not to accept it.
