A host of sacked manager Brendan Rodgers’ backroom staff will follow him out of Anfield as Jürgen Klopp gets set to takeover…
At least three of Brendan Rodgers‘ backroom team are to receive their P45s as the club prepares for the imminent arrival of new manager Jürgen Klopp, reports the Liverpool ECHO.
The former Borussia Dortmund boss is expected on Merseyside later today to sign a three-year contract ahead of a press conference unveiling at 10am on Friday.
With Klopp intent on bringing his own trusted lieutenants – long-term No.2 Zeljko Buvac and analyst Peter Krawietz – with him, a host of the existing personnel will inevitably need to make way.
Assistant boss Sean O’Driscoll, who was only appointed three months ago, will lead the way with head of performance Glen Driscoll and head of opposition analysis Chris Davies also deemed surplus to requirements.
First team coach and popular former player Gary McAllister could also depart, although he is likely to at least be afforded the opportunity to stay in a different capacity, possibly at the Academy or as a club ambassador.
According to respected journalist James Pearce’s article, two men who will survive the cull are development coach Pep Lijnders, who was promoted to work with the first team four months ago, and Ryland Morgans, the club’s head of fitness and conditioning.
Klopp is expected to be formally unveiled as Liverpool’s new manager on Friday. His first game in charge will be away to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on October 17.
