Yesterday, as they attempt to hang on to our shirt-tails, as far as the chase for continued Premier League glory goes, Chelsea became the first of the big-six Premier League clubs to buy big in the January transfer window.

The West London club confirmed that they had paid £58 million for the USA international, Christian Pulisic.

Now those of you who love a bit of transfer speculation will probably recall that Liverpool were linked with the 20-year-old Borussia Dortmund player back in the summer.

So, you may be asking yourselves whether Liverpool were pipped to the signature of the player by Chelsea.

Well, according to the Liverpool Echo, that’s not the case.

Our referenced source is reporting that Liverpool ended their interest in the possible signing of Pulisic when the deal to sign 27-year-old Xherdan Shaqiri was completed.

At the moment, with Shaqiri in sparkling form, I’m not in a position to doubt Jurgen Klopp’s judgement with Liverpool, seemingly, picking up a bargain from Stoke City.
