According to a report from Marca, past Liverpool target Eduardo Camavinga is said to be keen on a move to European rivals Real Madrid – with the Reds potentially missing out on a player that has been likened to Yaya Toure.
Camavinga has started 24 games for Rennes this season according to WhoScored, all the while averaging an impressive pass success rate of 87.7% in Ligue 1 – attracting European suitors who potentially see a starlet for the future.
At just 17-years-old, the Frenchman has been dubbed one of the hottest properties in European football by Marca, so much so that the teenager is currently valued at around €50 million (£43.6 million).
Past news from Spanish outlet SPORT indicated that Liverpool, along with Barcelona and Real, were keeping tabs on the midfield starlet – but given his apparent interest in signing for the Galacticos, and the fact Rennes want to keep him until next season, we may have to miss out on the prodigy who would apparently favour the Bernabeu due to his playing style.
Should Liverpool challenge Real for Camavinga?
The tough-tackling teen has accumulated impressive statistics this season that even outshine a fair few of our star men, with Camavinga so far averaging 4.2 challenges per game – almost double that of Liverpool’s best tackler Jordan Henderson.
As well as this, only Joel Matip has made more interceptions than the youngster this season – potentially highlighting why he is a sought-after name despite the fact he plies his trade in a debatably inferior league.
SPORT have also likened the player as a Yaya Toure type figure, but Reds boss Jurgen Klopp would presumably have to act fast in order to land the midfielder who has now eyed Real as his preferred destination.
