Liverpool fans outraged as Manchester City accused of cheating

|

Liverpool and Manchester United fans are calling for harsh punishments against Manchester City, after being accused of breaking financial fair play rules once again.

The current Premier League champions have been hit with 100 breaches of financial rules over the last ten years.

Possible punishments include points deductions, hefty fines or even titles won in certain seasons being stripped.

If it is true that Manchester City have broken the rules, then Liverpool have potentially been robbed of three Premier League titles.

Jurgen Klopp could have three Premier League titles to his name, Jordan Henderson could have four and Steven Gerrard could have the one title that avoided him his whole career.

The punishments could even go back as far as the 2013/14 season where Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool side missed out on the Premier League title to Manchester City.

Many fans are suggesting that Liverpool should be named Premier League champions in 2014, 2019 and 2022, all of which finishing second behind Pep Guardiola’s side.

Manchester United could be awarded a Premier League title for finishing second under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the likes of Sunderland, Watford and Arsenal could be awarded domestic cups where they lost in the final to City.

If the punishments are upheld, it throws massive doubt over the future of the club.

Would Pep Guardiola stay? Will they lose the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland? How severe will the punishments be? Could they be relegated?

There will be a lot more to come out of this story in the near future, but right now it seems to be very messy.
