Liverpool – Fulham

Image for Liverpool – Fulham

Liverpool’s form at Anfield in the Premier League has been brilliant (in particular recently) and Liverpool supporters will want, and I don’t think (even with our inconsistencies this season) it’s too much to ask, this to almost be expected to continue against Roy Hodgson’s former struggling side Fulham when they come to Anfield.

Liverpool Team News:

Roy was cagey about the involvement of Stevie however the talismanic Reds icon looks set to return to the squad, most likely in the starting XI, after injury. Torres will also return after sitting out the Europa League match against Utrecht, which the Spaniard was expected to start. Cole might have to settle for a place among the substitutes as he bids to return to Premier League action (as a starter) for the first time since October. There will be plenty of changes to the side that drew in the EL however Carragher, Spearing and Agger are still sidelined.

Player to watch: Stevie

Stevie returning to the squad will be a boost to everyone however if he can do this as a starter, as expected, it’ll be an even bigger lift to everyone.

Fulham Team News:

Zamora and Senderos are long term injury absentees however both are recovering well, they’ll be joined by Dembele and Briggs who miss out through injury. Fulham Boss Mark Hughes doesn’t have any fresh injury concerns however so it’s expected that the Welshman will name a similar squad to that he named last week.

Player to watch: Hangeland

Brede Hangeland has often been rumoured to be attracting the attentions of bigger clubs and was linked with the Reds. The Norwegian international’s presence as an attacking force, not to mention defensively, is something we’ll have to be guarded against.

Match Facts & Stats

In a 59 previous meetings Liverpool hold a lead of 33 wins to Fulham’s 10, the remaining 16 matches have ended in draws.

Ref Watch:

Andre Marriner will officiate.

Match Prediction:

After 29 matches at Anfield and having failed to ever win most would expect Liverpool to win, draw at the least. However a lot has been expected previously already this season and what was meant to happen hasn’t always gone according to plan. We’ve been inconsistent this season however the Anfield form has been brilliant recently so my prediction would be Liverpool 2 Fulham 0.
