After the excitement of two consecutive games heralded a place in the last-16 of the Champions League for Liverpool and also the axing of Jose Mourinho as the manager of Manchester United, Liverpool are back on the road for their next Premier League fixture.

This Friday, Jurgen Klopp will be hoping his side can take the three points on offer when his side take on Wolverhampton Wanderers, at Molineux.

Now, I’m not sure what to make of this Friday night football scenario, is it on a par with the dreaded Monday night football, where travel arrangements for away supporters is often neglected or is it worse?

However, the fixture, this Friday evening, does give Liverpool a great opportunity to pursue their dream of winning their first Premier League trophy by stretching the lead, point-wise, they have at the top of the table, albeit temporarily with Manchester City to play later this weekend.

Currently, Liverpool lead Manchester City by a solitary point, after accumulating 45 points from the first 51 available, whilst also remaining unbeaten.

A win, away to Wolverhampton Wanderers, will stretch that gap to 4 points, with Manchester City knowing that they cannot afford to slip up in their home fixture against Crystal Palace.

But, perhaps the crucial fixture, in the chase for the title will come early in 2019 when, on 3rd January, Liverpool make the relatively short trip to the Etihad Stadium to play Manchester City.

Something tells me, things are about to hot up big time!
