According to a report from Spanish outlet Todofichajes, Liverpool are hoping to ‘reach an agreement‘ to sign Wolves ace Adama Traore this summer – with talks allegedly well advanced and may well be concluded in the coming weeks.
Traore, who has started 22 games for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side this campaign, has impressed pundits and fans alike with his array of noteworthy individual performances – particularly against Reds rivals Man City among other sides.
The Spaniard, while arguably enjoying his finest season in English football to date, has scored four Premier League goals and assisted seven others for the West Midlands outfit – but those stats only partially tell the story.
Should Liverpool sign Traore?
Yes, absolute world beater
No, we have better wingers
Indeed, according to WhoScored, Traore has completed the most dribbles out of any player in the top flight, amassing an impressive 5.2 successful take-ons per game – more than fellow tricky wingers Wilfried Zaha, Allan Saint-Maximin and Nicolas Pepe.
Unsurprisingly, the 24-year-old has attracted the fifth-highest amount of fouls in the division over 2019/2020 to boot – getting taken down 2.3 times per 90 on average.
Now, with Traore’s noteworthy numbers seemingly turning Jurgen Klopp’s head, Liverpool are in ‘advanced talks‘ to bring him to Anfield – with Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri rumoured to be departing this summer.
Even though this latest Todofichajes report doesn’t mention a price tag, outlet Soccer Link revealed that Wolves may ask us for a £75 million fee to convince them to sell.
Whether or not this is still the asking fee remains to be seen, but it’s unclear whether Michael Edwards and co would sanction such a move – even if Traore has hugely impressed through the numbers.
