This summer’s Guinness International Champions Cup will see Liverpool play in Chicago, New York and Charlotte…

Liverpool’s participation in the Guinness International Champions Cup was announced a couple of weeks ago and now a mouth-watering schedule has also been revealed.

Brendan Rodgers and his players have been drawn in Group B for the prestigious pre-season tournament in America and begin with a fixture against Olympiacos at Soldier Field in Chicago on Sunday, July 27.

The match is followed by an all-Premier League encounter with Manchester City at Yankee Stadium in New York (Wednesday, July 30) before the Reds face AC Milan at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium (Saturday, August 2).

Should Liverpool top their group they will face the winners of Group A, which comprises of Inter Milan, Manchester United, Real Madrid and AS Roma, in a final to be contested in Miami on Monday, August 4.

Speaking from America following the announcement, club legend and ambassador Robbie Fowler commented to “I would love to be pulling my boots on as a Liverpool player again this summer.

“One of the greatest teams in the world, playing in one of the best cities in the world, inside one of the most iconic sporting stadiums in the world – who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?

“Being here in New York and working for the club I love is unbelievable but I’m not ashamed to admit that I wish it was me playing in this tournament in America this summer. It sounds a bit embarrassing but if I had the chance, I’d give anything to be starting out again as a Liverpool player.

“What an experience for the players to be able to come to America and play against some the biggest clubs in the world. The calibre of the teams competing in this tournament makes this like a mini-Champions League tournament and it’s amazing that two of the teams we are playing – AC Milan and Olympiacos – are so closely associated with our Champions League win in 2005.

“When those games come around, they will bring back so many happy memories for fans everywhere and that’s why I think it will be so exciting this summer.”

Tickets will go on pre-sale to Official LFC Supporters’ Clubs and LFC Official Members from 6pm GMT (1pm EST) on Thursday, February 20 until 3pm GMT (10am EST) on Saturday, February 22.

Tickets will then go immediately on general sale.
