Which players are struggling to be fit for Manchester City vs. Liverpool?…
Brazilian international Roberto Firmino could be available again for Liverpool after missing the 2-1 win over Burnley last Sunday with an unspecified injury.
The forward returned to light training earlier in the week and is expected to join back in with team training today (Friday).
Reds boss Jürgen Klopp will be especially hopeful that he can call upon the former Hoffenheim man after confirming at his pre-match press conference that Firmino’s replacement against the Clarets, Divock Origi, is currently struggling with illness.
Elsewhere, club captain Jordan Henderson (foot) and striker Daniel Sturridge (hip) remain unavailable for selection, with both omitted from the latest England squad announced on Thursday as a result.
Also definitely absent are Ovie Ejaria (ruptured syndesmosis), Danny Ings and back-up goalkeeper Adam Bogdan (both knee).
On a positive note, defender Dejan Lovren and midfielder Marko Grujić are pressing for inclusion in the matchday squad after proving their fitness for the U23s on Monday.
Hosts City continue to be without big money signings Gabriel Jesus (metatarsal fracture) and Ilkay Gundogan (ACL), with neither likely to feature again this season.
Experienced midfielder Yaya Toure could be recalled after being left on the bench as Pep Guardiola’s side surprisingly exited the Champions League at Monaco in midweek.
Club captain Vincent Kompany is back in training after a leg injury but may again miss out.
Neither side has any players ruled out through suspension.
