With the likelihood of Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum leaving the club growing by the day, the reds will no doubt have to look towards finding a replacement ahead of next season.

The club has been linked with numerous midfielders over this current campaign after it started to become clear that Wijnaldum would not sign a new contract with the club after failing to agree on his wages. Names such as Renato Sanches, Houssem Aouar, Yves Bissouma, Marcel Sabitzer, Piotr Zielinski, and even Sander Berge have been linked with a move to Anfield.

Latest rumours have emerged, stating that Liverpool are now interested in the possibility of bringing in fellow Dutchman Teum Koopmeiners from AZ Alkmaar according to Calcio Mercato via Goal US.

Will Klopp improve the Liverpool squad this summer?

No

The 23-year-old has impressed in his native Netherlands with the club and was even promoted as their captain, with him raking up 147 appearances with 43 goals from midfield – an impressive return for such a young player.

Despite the obvious talent that Koopmeiners possesses it would be a strange replacement for Wijnaldum given the different roles and positions that the pair occupy in midfield, with Koopmeiners playing more of a Fabinho role in. midfield, something that Liverpool don’t exactly need at the moment.

The Dutchman has managed some impressive performances in central midfield as a box-to-box player but it is yet to be seen whether he could change or adapt to that full time if Liverpool were to make a move in the summer.
