Back in the summer, when Jurgen Klopp decided to bring in a world-class goalkeeper, Allison Becker was the person chosen to be Liverpool’s incumbent of the hallowed green jersey.

Klopp had no hesitation in bringing in the Brazilian, from AS Roma, for a huge fee.

Although Liverpool already had two good keepers on their books, in Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius, Klopp knew that it was a position that needed improving if that long wait for a Premier League title was to end.

For Karius, after his Champions League heartache, it proved to be the perfect opportunity to leave Anfield.

For Mignolet, it meant that the Belgium keeper was, barring the occasional cameo appearance in lower priority competitions, was destined to fill the role as understudy to Allison.

There were mutterings, earlier this season, relating to Mignolet, perhaps, opting to leave Anfield cometh the opening of the January transfer window, possibly seeking regular first-team football.

However, the news source, ESPN, have moved to quash that particular rumour by confirming that the 30-year-old is set to stay until the end of the season.

Hopefully, Mignolet wants to leave on a high after assisting in parading the Premier League trophy around Anfield.
