Ex-Reds centre-back Mark Lawrenson previews the upcoming Premier League fixture between Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion…
Throughout the 2016/17 campaign former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson is again sharing his thoughts and predictions on Premier League fixtures with the BBC.
As in previous years, we will be filtering Lawro’s ramblings each week to bring you his views on games involving Liverpool.
Saturday sees the 4th placed Reds welcome mid-table West Bromwich Albion to Anfield.
Here’s what Lawro has to say about the game in full…
“The key for Liverpool will be dealing with West Brom’s set-pieces. I was at Anfield for this fixture last season, a 2-2 draw that saw the Baggies bully them and punish them at corners and free-kicks.
“The Reds also have to be careful that they don’t over-elaborate in attack when Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho are on the ball.
“Both Brazilians are outstanding players but it is frustrating when they try a lot of clever flicks when they should just look to hold the ball up and bring other players into the game.
“I do still think Jürgen Klopp‘s side will create the most chances, however. If they can take them, they will win.”
Lawro’s prediction: 3-0
Each week Lawro invites a famous guest to give their predictions before seeing who guesses the most scores correctly.
This time it’s the turn of Olympic gold medal winning kayaker Joe Clarke.
“I am going to have to go for Liverpool here,” commented the 23-year-old. “I will be in trouble with one of my friends if I don’t.”
His prediction: 2-0
