Liverpool face a tough test in their Premier League season with a trip to the King Power Stadium against Leicester City this lunchtime, with both sides fighting for a Champions League spot at the end of the season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side goes into the game off of the back of a retched defeat to Manchester City last Sunday and will be wanting to get their form and performances back on track with the visit to the Foxes a great opportunity to do that given their recent injury woes themselves.

Brendan Rodgers’ side sees themselves going into the game without star defender James Justin after he picked up an ACL injury during their FA Cup tie against Brighton on Wednesday which leaves them with a weakened defence for our tie today – with them still missing Timothy Castagne too after his strong start at the club, as well as Dennis Praet, Wesley Fofana, and Wes Morgan also still sidelined.

Liverpool have their own injury woes as we all know, with Brazilian midfielder Fabinho now added to the absent players for the game at midday – leaving both sides slightly exposed for the game.

We have a good record against Leicester City overall and we managed to come out on top earlier this season at home with a 3-0 win, so what can we expect from the game today?

Can Liverpool beat Leicester?

Player to watch out for – Leicester City, Jamie Vardy

Jamie Vardy loves a goal against Liverpool and us fan know it – the Englishman has scored 7 goals in his 12 games against us during his time in the Premier League but their record doesn’t prove great.

I think if the Foxes are going to want to get something out of the game then Vardy will need to be on his top form especially with a weakened Liverpool defence now and the likelihood of new boy Ozan Kabak starting in central defence will provide the Foxes with some hope ahead of the game.

Vardy already has 11 Premier League goals so far this season and will be wanting to add to that tally today – but Liverpool will need to be on their A-game to keep him at bay and try and bring themselves level on points with the Foxes.

Player to watch out for – Liverpool, Mo Salah

An easier prediction for a player to watch out for in regards to the Reds than others but I think Mo Salah should be chomping at the bit ahead of today’s clash with Leicester.

The Foxes have both Justin out for a considerable amount of time as mentioned previously and this means a weakened left side of their defence will start the game today – which should be music to Salah’s ears and hopefully, he can carry on his goalscoring run against Rodgers’ side.

Salah has carried on his fine form despite the whole team’s dip and has continued to score goals throughout this campaign with him currently the top scorer in the league with 16 goals.

Score Prediction: Leicester City 2-3 Liverpool

I really think we’re going to be in with a great game today given that both sides are slightly weakened at the moment, Liverpool more so than Leicester, but Liverpool have been dealing with their absences for some time already this season.

There is just something telling me that the game will be a real end-to-end competition and with both Salah and Vardy in goalscoring form and hitting the top numbers in the league – I really think we could be on with a thriller today.

I’m going with Liverpool just edging this one out over the Foxes and I am hoping for a positive debut from Kabak if he starts the game today but not a clean sheet with Leicester still strong in attack, with Liverpool running out 3-2 victors at the King Power.
