Jürgen Klopp has this evening been officially confirmed as Liverpool FC’s new manager…
The worst kept secret in football is now official after Liverpool Football Club confirmed the appointment of Jürgen Klopp as their new manager.
The 48-year-old German replaces Brendan Rodgers, who was sacked on Sunday.
A statement confirming the news appeared on the official club website around 9pm BST this evening (Thursday October 8).
It read: “Liverpool Football Club are delighted to announce Jürgen Klopp has been appointed as the club’s new manager.
“The German coach has signed a deal to take the helm at the Reds and will be presented at a press conference at Anfield on Friday morning.”
Klopp arrives following an impressive seven-year spell at Borussia Dortmund where he won two Bundesliga titles and reached a Champions League final.
The former FSV Mainz 05 man is widely believed to have signed a three-year contract at Anfield and will be accompanied by ex-Dortmund assistant Zeljko Buvac and trusted analyst Peter Krawietz.
Tomorrow’s press conference is scheduled for 10am BST and we will bring you the best soundbites tomorrow afternoon.
Everyone at Vital Liverpool would like to extend Jürgen a warm welcome to the club and wish him all the success in the world!
