Last night saw Liverpool face their sixth straight home Premier League defeat with a devastating 1-0 loss to Fulham, with the London club gaining a valuable three points in their bid to fight relegation.

The loss has left Liverpool in eighth place in the Premier League table and four points off of fourth-placed Chelsea, leaving the Reds with a mountain to climb if they hope to secure a place in the top-four for next season’s Champions League competition.

It was a frustrating game to watch given the quality that this Liverpool squad possesses even when not at full strength but the lack of depth clearly aided in the loss with big names left on the bench nowhere near matched by the players replacing them on the pitch for the game – it was clear Jurgen Klopp’s squad selection was completely wrong and even with the return of Diogo Jota to the side, the Reds couldn’t find the winning formula against Fulham.

Will Jurgen Klopp honour his contract?

Credit where it is due, however, to Scott Parker’s side. The London club have been fighting throughout the first half of the season to stay in the league and struggled massively, but a recent resurgence after some smart purchases during the January transfer window as well as some great coaching and effort from Parker and his players – it is clear that the Cottagers have the ability and quality to remain in the Premier League.

The football at the moment is horrible to watch – there is a lack of intensity, there is no fight or desire to score or even win the ball back at times and with a weakened defence, I don’t see a game in which Liverpool can turn things around in the Premier League to return to winning ways.

It is easy to sit here and pick apart the performance but it is past that point now for me and I’d imagine most Liverpool fans will feel the same – I simply just want to see a strong performance with energy and desire from the squad again, whether they win or lose I just think that spark is missing from Klopp’s squad and it is horrible to see.
