Who has won the Vital Liverpool Player Of The Month award for Premier League performances during May?…
Liverpool FC ended their 2012-13 season with a second consecutive unbeaten month. Brendan Rodgers‘s side played three Premier League fixtures, winning two and drawing one.
Ultimately it counted for little as the Reds finished in the 7th position they had occupied for a number of preceding weeks. The undefeated run, which stretches back eight games to a 3-1 loss against Southampton on March 16th, does provide plenty of optimism for the future however.
A future that will sadly not include decorated defender Jamie Carragher after the one-club man retired from the game following a final-day victory over Queens Park Rangers. The match was also notable for the full debut of 17-year-old winger Jordan Ibe.
As for Carragher, the 35-year-old has played a massive part in Liverpool’s successes over the past 15 years and was effective to the very last; helping his side keep two clean sheets during May.
Goals wise, Daniel Sturridge hit a superb hat-trick in the win over Fulham to help his tally reach an impressive 11 goals in 16 appearances since joining in January.
Last month’s Vital Liverpool Player of the Month, Philippe Coutinho, scored the other goal recorded this month and continued to impress with his technique and vision; grabbing two more assists.
There can be only one winner though and…
