Liverpool are one of three Premier League clubs that are interested in the services of the Watford winger Ismalia Sarr, according to reports.

What’s happening?

With the Reds having become Premier League champions in unprecedented circumstances, it seems that there will be few changes to the lineup that guided the club to their first title in 30 years.

But with the Hornets being relegated this season, several of their top players could be wanting to remain in the top-flight for the 2020/21 campaign.

The Watford Observer revealed that the Reds have moved forward with plans to strike a deal with the Hornets, having already held initial talks with his representatives.

The report added that Wolves and Crystal Palace are also interested in Sarr, and could move for him if they lose their respective prized assets in Adama Traore and Wilfried Zaha during the summer.

With Liverpool’s pursuit for RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner breaking down due to financial reasons, the question remains as to whether they are prepared to pay the price for him.

Having signed for the Hertfordshire based outfit last summer for £40m, it is likely that they want to recoup as much of that transfer fee as they possibly can.

Suitable backup for the front three

With the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi linked with the exit door at Anfield, Sarr would be a suitable candidate to come in and deputies for the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

With six goals and six assists in his first 30 appearances for Watford, he left a lasting impression on the Premier League as a whole, which led to praise from Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville who described him as a “big talent“. His contributions for the Hornets have added to his career goal tally of 29.

Whether the Reds are willing to pay in excess of the £40m transfer fee that was paid for him, remains to be seen.
