Rafa’s Views On Kuyt

Two goals in our 3-1 win at Hull on Saturday have seen Dirk Kuyt singled out for special praise by Rafa Benitez. The second half goals from the Dutchman secured our win and it was his immense work rate that was praised by Rafa, as he explained:

‘Kuyt is a fantastic professional and is always working hard to score.

‘He was very positive and we are really pleased for him.’

Kuyt always works tremendously hard but being used as a right winger doesn’t always do him the justice that he deserves as he isn’t really a winger is he, however he continues to put in the performances and scores the goals, so why shouldn’t he be praised?

Its going to be a tough call for Rafa to make in the summer, would we be better served acquiring a natural right sided player at the possible expense of the important Kuyt, or does he carry on using him? Kuyt is a forward after all so he could move up alongside Fernando Torres, but on the whole that doesn’t really fit in with the way the Spaniards has us set up and playing does it.
