Rafa’s Views On Man City

Following the investment of the Abu Dhabi United Group, or at least will be investment that started with ADUG finalising the signing of Robinho, Rafa Benitez believes Man City will be a major player this season. Rafa believes that Man City will have the financial muscle to seriously challenge the top four this season, and could even buy a way to the title this season. However, he also stressed that it is not a guarantee that you can by success, as he explained:

‘You cannot just win the title by spending money but Chelsea won for two years spending big, big money. Afterwards Manchester United won spending lots of money too.

‘If we are talking about spending money then maybe Manchester City will win the title this year.

‘It is not just a question of money but if you have more money it is easier. If you don’t have too much money, you must do the job as best you can.

‘If we are talking now, maybe they (City) need time but if we talk in January, maybe they will buy five players… then you never know.

‘But it is not just a question of ‘I will invest more and I will win’. You cannot guarantee anything.’

Rafa, you have spent a decent amount of money at Liverpool as well though, so he, and we, need to be wary of what we come out with but long gone are the days when the ability to buy countless players wasn’t available, and nowadays it is a case of those with the biggest bank balances and riches available to buy the best, often will be the best. So Man City theoretically could do just that. It is a shame that this is the way that football has gone, but there isn’t really a great deal that we can do about this, and unless people follow suit they are left behind. Some are more fortunate than others, and we can count ourselves as being one of the more fortunate ones really.
